Mother's Day Weekend

So, this last weekend was FABULOUS! Ahem... now to make you all jealous, haha.

First of all, Sunday was not only Mother's day, but our 6th anniversary. So, my hubby had a very special surprise for me. On Saturday he gave me an anniversary card, and inside were two tickets to the Pantageous Playhouse for the musical, Pirates of Penzance! I was thrilled! I've not been to a musical now for... many years. We saw West Side Story at the Rainbow Stage our first year of marriage. It was lovely, and a first for me. So yeah... it's been years.

My original 101 item for #13 was to see a ballet, but I figure I am not going to see a ballet, and a musical is... kinda similar... right? It's got singing, and a story, and music, and it's live... yeah.

Anyway, we went to a restaurant neither of us has ever been to (which doesn't take much for me) called Hu's On First: Asian Cuisine. It was fabulous! It cost a bit more than we're used to but it was worth it. We went to the Forks for a bit of a walk after that and stopped in at the coffee shop there and grabbed desert. Then we went to the musical. It was so much fun! I wish I could have understood more of what was going on, but that's ok. It was fun to watch, and the actors were great! They could sure sing! At one point (after intermission) all the band stood up and they were all wearing drawn on mustaches, haha, women included. Anyway, it was loads of fun. I'd love to show pics, but we couldn't use cameras.

Anyway, Sunday was mother's day, and we planned to go to the zoo with my family. So, we got the picnic lunch together and headed out! Anyway, we'll let the pictures do most of the talking... even though they aren't in order. That's almost impossible due to how they upload on blogger. ARGH!

Here is my munchkin looking at my sis' purse while the rest of us finished eating lunch. She eats quick!

And here are the bears, the first thing you see upon entering the zoo. You could definitely tell it was spring... although I kinda wish they would've got a room... haha.

Here's my daughter watching the monkeys.

Here we go... walking along.

I love this photo. It took me a long time to get a good photo. My camera automatically focuses on the fence... blech. And I don't have a manual override.

The girls were so cute playing. My lil girl liked to clap while my niece had fun crawling all over the bench.

She loved watching the turtle. She wouldn't even look at me with a camera! Obviously that turtle was just too interesting (seriously... I rarely get a photo of her NOT looking at the camera until I've had it in her face for awhile already)

I so wanted to get this photo without any fence, but that was very difficult... seeing as the fence was so far away and I couldn't get through the bars.

I LOVE this photo.

Awww! I love how she gets excited about the animals.

And the end of the day, she was so tired.

The weekend was awesome. It was a wonderful time!

Anyway, as for the 101 in 1001, this weekend we finished #7, go to the zoo, and #13, see a musical/ballet. I guess it could also cover #8, picnic in a park, but I'm kinda hoping to do that with just my hubby and daughter sometime this summer... so we won't count that one since it kinda went along with going to the zoo.

Check it out! 40 down, 61 to go!

Happy Mother's Day

I saw this poem on Painting Pink Pajamas, and just had to post it myself! It perfectly describes how I feel today. After all, this is my first official Mother's Day. She doesn't know who wrote it, and neither do I, so there's no author. Sorry. :(

I had to post this pic, it's of my munchkin, myself, my mom, and my mom's mom... a 4 generational photo!

Happy Mother's day to all mothers and all women who have had mothers (that would be... all of us... haha).

Please note, these photos are in no particular order. I tried to find every pic I had of us together.

Before I was a Mom!

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby..
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child..
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom..
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom...

Happy Mother's Day!
