#70: Garage Sale

So, my mom decided last minute on June 29 that we were going to have a garage sale on July 1st to help RJ and Esther make a bit of money for their wedding. I've already had everything I wanted to sell in a box, ready to go (just not priced), so it was easy to take everything over there. I stayed there from 10:30 till 6, the garage sale was from 9:30-6. Esther, Roxy, and mom were there too. Roxy and Esther took a few breaks to swim and such, which was great with the weather being so warm... I would have too except that I didn't have a swimsuit... at all. Anyway, afterward, I was exhausted.

We decided that, since not much sold (it was a Tuesday after all... and a bit last minute) we'd redo the sale on the 10th. My aunt brought a bunch of appliances and furniture down to the garage sale for Thursday as well. I also brought our treadmill (which I couldn't before because I didn't have the truck). We were disappointed in Thursday's sale as well (it was on a back lane, so not as many people see and show). So, after Thursday, mom decided it was to go again today. I said I wasn't going to be there today (I was there all day yesterday again too, and super exhausted afterward again... literally out of breath when I got home, how weird is that).

Anyway, I didn't have a whole lot there (just one box and the treadmill) and I don't know what sold today, but Tuesday I made just under $7, and yesterday made just over $38.

I remember why I don't care much for doing garage sales, but we're done now, so that is good. Now to take care of whatever didn't sell. We'll take most stuff to the thrift store, and the few items I decide not to, well, back into storage. At least I made a bit of money to put toward baby stuff... or maybe I'll buy Wii Fit!

A Wedding and a Nursery

So, last weekend was my brother's wedding. He is now officially married! Wow...

Their wedding was so pretty. I loved the decor, and Esther was gorgeous. RJ was pretty dapper looking himself! I think he should wear a suit more often! Their little Avae was so cute too in her lil polka dot dress. She was brought down the aisle in a cute lil red wagon.

I've been so tired lately. I got weighed in at my last prenatal checkup and didn't gain a thing in the last two weeks... so I'm still only 9lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight... at 30 weeks pregnant. Doctor says I just need to make sure I'm "nibbling" all day to get nutrition to the baby... and myself. Perhaps that's why I've been so tired lately. Yesturday I wanted an egg mcmuffin so badly... but it was already lunch, lol. So, no egg mcmuffin for me... instead we made our own at home with English muffins, bacon, egg, red pepper, and cheese. Mmmm.

I'm hoping to fix my clouds on the ceiling today... I don't really like them, although I love the colors of the wall and ceiling. I'm scared to do the sponging technique I wanted to do in there as I know it will change the wall color so much. Sigh. Oh why can't I make up my mind? Oh, but I did see a cute baby bedding set at the Bay. It will cost about$150 however for the bumpers, comforter, sheet, and dust ruffle. You can see a pic of it here.

Well, that's all for now. We'll see where this next week takes me.

#78: Organize and store craft supplies

So, I managed to organize all my crafts a few weeks back, and now that I have my shelves I was able to finally put them away. I also went into the closet and reorganized other crafts into pails so they could be stored in this way too. I made sure everything would seal relatively well so I wouldn't have to deal with sawdust later.

Today I also labelled the little drawers in the organizer I have for screws and nails and such. So now I'll be able to find things instead of having to search through the toolbox and all the bags I organized things in earlier. So nice.

#56: Put up workshop shelves

On the 2nd of July we got the shelves up. I'm so happy. I right away put up my crafts and the electrical components and such that we have. I also reorganized the workshop. I wish to put some pegboard up under the shelves, and on the left side wall as well from the shelves till the breaker box.

In this pic you can see the corner shelves with the electrical, plumbing, and hardware components all organized in boxes. It's so nice to finally have them here instead of in the basement in the pantry. Plus, the tools are all in the same spot now, so it's so much easier to get what we need. Unfortunetly, I still need to store my paint and supplies in the pantry, as this room will get below freezing in winter.

I'm planning on putting a "shelf" underneath the tall counters. That will be nice for storage of things I don't use often. Perhaps someday.

Workaholics Anonymous

So yeah, I'm a workaholic, just ask my hubby. If there was a group he would send me to it, I'm sure. Anyway, I've created a list of things I really want to get done by the end of this month. Basically, the workshop, the babyroom, and the stairs/hallway. I broke the tasks down, and have about 31 of them, so as long as I complete at least one item daily I'll finish by the end of the month.

I've already completed a bunch of my workshop tasks. Mainly, helping hubby put up the shelves, and then putting my crafts away (some needed to be organized into pails and such as well). Today I put up all the electric components (and plumbing, and hardware, etc) and took much of the stuff out of my spare room. That room isn't cleaned out completely yet (that is also on my list) but it's pretty close!

I've als been working hard on the babyroom. I have the ceiling painted a very pale blue color (called polar sky) and the walls a nice light yellow (named buttermilk). I wish to paint the clouds on the ceiling very soon, and need to figure out what I'll need to do the sponging technique for the walls. I think a gallon of glaze and a quart of yellow one shade darker would do it. I already have a sea sponge. I love that thing. Anyway, if you can see it, the blue doesn't go all the way to the wall. I'm going to be putting up trim to frame in the ceiling area. It will make the room look like it has a really large skylight.

Besides that, on Canada Day I spent most of the day at my parents helping with the garage sale. Not too many people came through, and I didn't sell the large items I really want to sell. Nobody was interested in the big things really. We're planning on redoing it on the 10th, and since many of us still had things in the house we didn't bring last time, we'll be getting them there for then, and my aunt is also adding things to the sale, so it won't be the same.

I'm looking forward to finding the material I want to get for the baby room. I can't wait to start working on the curtains and stuff (I also wish to sew them for the dining room and kitchen). I haven't done any sewing in awhile.

Things have been a bit stressful lately again, mostly in dealing with certain people which I won't name here. We got a rather nasty message on our answering machine from one particular person regarding something another person told him we had done(that is another rather lengthy story which occured over 2 weeks ago). He called us names and mock screamed at us on the message. We are sincerely thinking of blocking his number. He's done this sort of thing before, and about 3 months ago we quit communicating with him due to how rude he was being toward us. This is the last straw. No way I want these sorts of things continuing after my child is born. I was thinking of trying to record the message and send it to him so he could hear how he sounds. Maybe he just doesn't realize it. Sigh. Anyway, it's stressful, and I'm tired of dealing with it. I just want to quit communicating with both of these people, not allow them on my yard, everything. I can't handle this anymore, and I almost want to get back at them, which is something I've not dealt with before. It's not the way I usually am. I'll just keep praying about this.

Again, doing all sorts of work keeps the mind off of all the stressful and emotional matters right now. I'm still trying to deal with them, but there is so much outside my control that I can't do anything about, so I'd rather keep my mind on something I can do something about. Plus, getting things done feels good. It's so nice to accomplish things.

Baby is getting bigger too. I can hardly believe how much this little one loves to squirm. Yet, apparently I'm small for 6 1/2 months. We'll see. I can't believe appointments are only 2 weeks apart now. And I only have 11 weeks till due date! Scratch that, 10 1/2. Aaah! I gotta get that babyroom done!

Anyway, that's all for now. I'll be posting more pics when babyroom is closer to finished. I'll also post in-between pics when I finish the room, and before-after's. I'm so excited! :)
