So, I created this "cleaning plan" awhile back (before starting the 101 in 1001...) that would mean not needing to really do spring and fall cleaning anymore as the majority would be done each month throughout the month. Basically, it included me doing the basic cleaning routine (vacuuming, sweeping, dishes, tidy, basic bathroom and kitchen cleaning) and then adding on to that according to the week of the month. Most months have 4 Tuesdays in the month... however every 2-3 months there are 5. That 5th Tuesday is when I do other... things. Here is a basic rundown of my cleaning schedule
First Tuesday: Switch up bedding sheets, vacuum bed, flip mattress, power dust EVERYTHING (not my favorite as I hate moving books all the time to dust under them)
Second Tuesday: Extra vacuuming (under the bed, under the couch, behind the couch, the couch and chairs, in the closets, etc), clean/organize closets, clean/dust baseboards/trim
Third Tuesday: Regular dusting, spring clean kitchen (stove top, microwave, microwave filters, cupboards, drawers, etc)
Fourth Tuesday: Mop, Spring clean bathrooms (walls, extra elbow grease with the sinks, tub, and toilets, clean underside of toilets, dust everything, clean out cabinets/organize/dust, lights, shower curtain, etc)
Fifth Tuesday: Clean fridge, wash garbage cans, thorough cleaning of entrance (a basic cleaning is done every week with sweep and vacuum), windows if needed, light fixtures if needed, under fridge/range, curtains/blinds if needed, etc etc.
So, now since I've started the 101 in 1001, I've done this for 3 months. I did for 1-2 months already prior to that, which was basically just doing my "initial" spring cleaning anyway as it was March. I figure this will make things easier for when the baby arrives too... no more hectic spring/fall cleaning! It's being done every month throughout the year. And I made a paper schedule that goes till the end of December that has a mini calendar on the side so I can see which week I'm on if I forgot.
