Dairy Month Post - Photo Tour

Today I'm going to give you all a 'photo video tour' of our farm. The song I added to it doesn't really 'go', but I don't have any country songs on CD's at home (I'd need to borrow from my parents). I really wanted to post this today, since I actually wanted my dairy posts on Mondays, but that's OK. Another note... you may have to pause on some areas with the typing as it tends to go by faster than I thought. I changed it 4 times and it still didn't seem to help. Ah well.

Enjoy!

That was so much fun! Some of the pictures reminded me of my childhood (my grandparents grow sod, my dad used to grow alfalfa and potatoes, my uncle raised cows, the list goes on and on, haha).

I've never seen a cow with two tags before. Is there any special reason you guys do both ears?

Rosco is awesome! And I loved the pictures of the baby calf! How cute! Also, you guys need to frame all of those awards! Holy cow!

I loved seeing your farm. I have always pretty much been a city girl...though, we lived out in the country after my parents divorced. We did gardening and other than cats and dogs, we didn't raise anything else. I've thought so many times that it would be so cool to be able to spend a day or two volunteering on a farm just to see what it's like. We actually have a distant cousin who has a dairy farm back in Michigan. It been in the family for years and from what I hear, they are doing very well with it even with the economy in MI as bad as it has been. It's been about 14 years though since I have toured it... maybe I'll have to arrange another tour for next time I go home... thanks for sharing your farm!

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Lacey, I'm not exactly sure why we're supposed to tag both ears. The main reason I can think of (that my husband told me) was in case one fell off (and these cows have done it before). The button part of the tag is electronic, and usually the part that comes off is the plastic piece.

They're kinda like really big earings!
