Fitness Friday

I'm posting this a day late... oops. Anyway, there's not much to report. I've started up my weekly workout routine again... this time with the 30 Day Shred (Jillian Micheal's). It is an awesome DVD, I recommend it to anyone wanting a good challenge. It's got 3 20minute workouts, each progressively harder than the previous. I'm still on workout 1, I've done 5 days of it, and I'll do another 5 I think before I move to the second workout. I'm hoping to do the more challenging part of workout 1 more consistently than I am currently. For example, she does 30 seconds of push ups, 1 minute of squats with presses, and then repeats for the first portion of strength... I can now do the first 30 second push up bit on my toes, but by the time we get to the next set of push ups I have to go to my knees. I also want to get a larger range of motion in the lunges, the butt kicks, and the side lunges. Really good workout though. All you need is a set of weights (I might want to invest in some proper 5lb weights as I'm using Pilates balls right now). I'm not doing the Shred in 30 days, but 6 weeks... 5 days a week. Gives me a bit of a break now and then, which I think I'll need (it is a hard workout), but I want to do other exercise the other two days... something simple like going for a walk or mowing lawn or something to that extent.

I weighed myself and measured myself last week, and I had actually dropped 2lbs and 1/2 inch without really working at it. I'm certain that was mostly weight I had gained from my antidepressants (which I'm no longer taking). This weigh in showed a 1/2 lb loss, and otherwise no significant changes. I'm hoping to see some inches lost next week... maybe... haha. Overall though, I'm really hoping for more stamina in my workout, and energy... and health overall. I really need to work on my eating habits, as those have spiralled downwards over the last couple of weeks.

Speaking of which, I'm hungry (just finishing the workout)... so I think it's time for a healthy snack.

That workout routine sounds brutal. I literally could not, at this point, do one single pushup. And if I tried squats, my knees would give out! I'm so impressed that you're fit enough to be able to get that fit, if you know what I mean! I'm still just working on walking and doing some really low-impact aerobic stuff until I drop some of the weight.

I hadn't thought of measuring my inches -- hips, waist, bust, arms, thighs -- do you do the whole deal? I guess that inches could be a measure of progress as well as pounds...
