It's That Time Again!

What time? Christmas Shoeboxes!

I love doing the Christmas shoeboxes. I've been trying to do them every year. In fact, I've put that in my 101 list as well... to do at least one shoebox per year for the three years this 'goal' lands on. This is my second. I'm pretty happy with the result!

I try to keep within about $20 (including the $7 cost to send it), but I like to buy a lot of stuff too. I have a few items that I'll be able to use in following years (for example, I bought soap, but got more than one bar, or toothbrushes individually packed, but with 2 in a pack, same with erasers, pencils, sharpeners, etc). This year I decided to buy a plastic 'shoebox' to pack everything into. We also did a girl, since I had a few items that I've purchased in previous years that didn't fit into the boxes.

Here is the box and all the goodies to go inside (except the candy of course. I'm disappointed that you have to put it all in baggies now as well, since they worked so well as fillers before). Oh, you have to put your soap in a ziploc now as well. I also don't think you are allowed to pack toothpaste anymore due to border restrictions, but I could be wrong. We decided to er on the side of caution and left it out.

And here it is, all packed up. A tip for teddy bears is to stuff them inside a plastic bag as much as you can and then squish as much air out as possible, allowing for maximum storage space. The teddy I got was rather big... until squished into his 'doggy bag'. Now he only took up half the box... if not less.

What a great idea! I would be bummed too that you can no longer use candy as a filler... it seems like every year there are more and more restrictions. I love the stuffed animal!
