February 7-13 List

So, out of my entire list last week, the thing I am most proud of is the floor. I scrubbed that floor. It looks so good now!

I spent a lot of time fall of 2007, scrubbing my dining room, kitchen, and bathroom floors. I was making my way to the entrance... but never actually did it. I'm not sure why. Could be because I got tired... or other... more difficult circumstances arose. Either way, it's been two years and I hadn't done it yet. And I could SEE that it needed it.

The pic below? It shows the grungy look in the little 'dimples' in my linoleum. They looked grungy... and that wasn't even the worst area. (top is scrubbed, bottom is scum)

Need a better view? Really... do we ever need a better view of scum? Don't worry, I'll give you one anyway.

Anyway, I am proud to say that after only about half an hour (or maybe an hour, I cannot remember... I was having too much fun watching the grime disappear) the floor was spotless. And I mean that. Now my normal mopping job will not only be easier, but it will make a bigger difference. The only thing I am disappointed in is that I never did hang my pictures. Sigh. Maybe later. They are sitting there, taunting me...

Anyway, on to this next week's list.

Our challenge is to clean the ceilings, walls and doors. This week I am focusing on the Kitchen (and doing walls and doors in the living room, since I do the walls in my kitchen regularly anyway... and there aren't really any, ha ha).
  • sweep
  • vacuum
  • laundry x3
  • exercise x3 (Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri)
  • farm books
  • personal books
  • shine sink
  • clean dish rack
  • clean microwave
  • do a quick wipe inside (and out) of fridge and freezer
  • wipe down dishwasher (open the door and get those areas along the door edges)
  • wipe down the cabinets and counter exterior
  • clean/wax stove top (and buttons)
  • mop
  • dust in the kitchen
  • kitchen walls and ceiling wipe
  • living room walls and ceiling wipe
  • change Brita filter
  • clean utensil drawer (wash all utensils and tray)
  • organize big utensil drawer... again
  • organize deep freeze (not really in kitchen... but related)
  • end beverage fast (the 12th)
  • candlelight dinner
  • days of Valentines, prep and ready (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14)

I normally don't like to do work on Sundays, but since I was cleaning up the kitchen before bed anyway, I started tackling a few jobs. Why? I don't know. I saw them and before I knew it, I had done them. Less for later this week, I guess. Which is good. The kitchen list always seems so huge.

Good Luck to everyone on this week's lists! And how did you do on your list last week? Did something really stand out that felt great to do? Did something not get done (don't worry, happens to me all the time)?

I'm failing miserably on cleaning the walls. But I DID vacuum in that crack between the carpet and the wall with the vacuum extension hose thingy, you know what I'm talking about right? I just did it in the hallway and part of the living room (where it really needed it the most), and it wasn't even on my list so it's not nearly as satisfying (haha), but it did feel pretty good!

This weekend I had big plans to tackle the "wall project," but I started working on what will soon be our new entertainment center! Sanding, priming, painting, you know the drill! It's going well, but those walls are MOCKING ME!

Congrats on your floors, they look amazing!

Gosh...do you remember that post you did about cleaning your shower head to make the water come out the holes better?? What was it you said to use to clean with??
