Update on 101 list

It's been a week since I started my newest 101 in 1001 challenge, and so I thought it would be good to look over what I am working on now, and what I've completed!

2. Do the 1000 hours outside challenge (1000 Hours Outside )

We started this on Earth Day, April 22.  I normally like to go outside and clean the ditch on Earth day, but it is super wet and cold here still, so that didn't happen.  We did go to the museum as a family and stayed outside for an hour, and went for a walk later that day at home.  Since telling the kids about the challenge, my son has been going outside for 2 to 3 hours or more each day on his own.  Raking the lawn, shooting pigeons, asking us to go for a walk down the driveway together.  My step count is up considerably!  Right now we are at only 7 hours due to rain yesturday not letting me out at all.  And I'm having a hard time figuring out how to calculate the hours since some of us are outside for a shorter time, and the kids go outside on their own frequently.  I think I will try to take a basic average?  I've been mostly just doing my hours plus if all the kids went outside while I'm making supper or something.  Calculating it is harder than I thought it would be.

3. Go on a weekend trip just me and hubby

Planning this one right now!  Our 20th anniversary is coming up, and my parents are taking the kids!  So excited!

33. Create a tangible family tree. More than having it in the family Bible.

I finally found a program that lets me print these things!  I thought I could do this on Family Search, but it will only do the ancestry trees.  I want to print a descendants tree for my only remaining Grandmother.  I'm trying to get pictures of everyone in the program currently, but all the data is entered.  I also need to figure out how to best print it.  I may have to go to Staples with a file and do a poster that way.  I don't like how it lines everything up because it is SUPER long.  22 pages, landscape, 2x11.  I think I can rearrange the lines though.

42. Read entire bible in a year

I started this on January 1st, and I'm a little bit behind.  Supposed to be in 1 Kings 3 for tomorrow, but I'm at 2 Samuel 21, so not too bad.

46. Stay off Facebook for one month. Spend time in prayer instead

I did go on Facebook briefly yesturday to try to find out if my cousin had a baby boy or girl, but since that wasn't fruitful, I just left it for now.  My mom has photos in an album she sent me, so I was able to see from that!  Yay!  I've been off Facebook since April 1.

52. No sugar for a week (finished April 27, 2023)

Started this on April 17 when I started writing my 101 list.  Still staying off sugar right now.  No sugar for 10 days as of today!  Yay!  Done!

53. Do a detox/cleanse (2 weeks?)

On Saturday, the 22nd, I started doing dry brushing techniques along with the no sugar.  Today I started taking fiber in the morning (it is not really meant for consuming in water, I don't think.  It's not what I thought it was when I bought it. I'll have to bake muffins or granola bars with it I think).  So, I'm starting.  I wanted to buy a 'cleanse' package of sorts, but meh.  I think a lot of these other things work better.  Food is a big thing.  I need to make green smoothies for this!

85. Find/add more info onto the Family Search website (photos, certificates, sources)(2/15)

I entered all my family in there, only to have it not work for printing.  I did put in the obituaries for my grandfather and my uncle, and I've been searching with no luck for information on my husband's great great grandfather who travelled over here as a kid.  Can't find his grave at all.  I did find an article in Preserving's magazine!  A document he wrote for the local heritage church many years ago about how things were when they moved here.  The difficulties they encountered, living in the cold without a home, what borrowing money cost back then, the kids needing to work in order to help their parents who were getting older already in order to pay debts (their house burned down on Easter and they escaped with the clothes on their backs when it is still bitterly cold in this area, so they needed a loan to buy clothes).  It brings a little light into that past, and was such an interesting find!

86. Enter at least 5 stories/memories into the Family Search website (1/5)

Put in a story with a photograph of handwritten information from my grandmother on her relatives.  I love things like that!

So, 1 down, 100 to go.  And a lot that I'm currently working on.  We'll see how it goes.
