So, I figured it would be a good idea to update you (and myself… ok… mostly myself) on what’s been happening with my 101 in 1001 list. I haven’t been really looking at it much lately… ever since our baby girl was born, but there are some things I’ve actually been working on without really thinking about it. Here’s a list of the items I’ve been working on and will hopefully complete by the end of April.
#2. Start composting - I’m not doing a crazy amount of work with this yet, but right now we have a designated pail that stays in the workshop (yes, it has a lid, but I’m still not a fan of the smell) where we put our banana peels, veggie clippings, outside lettuce leaves, etc. We aren’t really composting it ourselves yet, but it does end up getting composted once it’s hit the manure pile in the back. I’m not sure when I’ll say this one is complete… maybe once it becomes more of a habit.
#10. Visit The Forks with parents and purchase something there for fun - We’re thinking of doing this on the weekend! Apparently there’s all sorts of stuff going on there right now. Now to see if my parents want to go...
#14. Work on a puzzle together - We’ve actually started one! I got the puzzles in summer from the Thrift store for cheap, and it took this long to pull one out. So far, all that’s done is the outside border.
#21. Do farm historical analysis for 2007 - I’m not going to do 2007, but I’ll do 2008, which is something I’m currently working on.
#22. Set up a mini “farm plan” method to implement each year - This has been set up, but now I’m implementing it for 2009 and it’s getting tweaked.
#26. Start an RESP - We just need to remember to bring baby girl’s birth certificate in to get her a S.I.N. so we can set one up.
#44. Finish wedding scrapbook. - Yup… I’m working on it…
#54. Finish upstairs hall trim, banister, and add trim extras to stairs. - I’m SOOOO close! Rug is going in on the 7th, the banister needs varnish, paint needs touching up in a few spots, and the baseboard needs to go in… just 4 pieces of it… the rest is done. Hopefully I’ll finish that up the second week of April.
#59. Make dining room curtain - I have a blind and a curtain rod… and a sheet that I want to turn into the curtain… now I just need to DO it.
#65. Plant hedge around yard, and new trees - The area is tilled as of fall, and the trees are (hopefully) ordered.
#69. Wash carpets – once the rug is in.
#76. Learn to play ocarina – I’ve been puttering with it lately… our lil munchkin loves watching me play.
#84. Put all necessary computer files on disks, organize/label them into binders – this is something I need to redo now, since it’s been so long. Sigh. But, I DO have a binder now for all the discs!
#97. Read 5 new books – I’ve read On Becoming Babywise, am currently reading Shepherding a Child’s Heart, want to read The Shack and The Five Love Languages, and I’m interested in The Love Dare (from Fireproof… I wanna watch that movie yet too).
And now for a couple of things I’ve done and forgotten to mention:
#28. Save up for new washer/dryer (finished 28/02/2009)
We actually went and purchased a new washer and dryer! They aren’t hooked up yet, but they are there. Got them on sale… I’m SO happy. The washer is a front load, and the dryer can sense the wet in your clothes! And it has a buzzer! My current dryer doesn’t have a buzzer! (I know, it’s the simple things, right?). I’ll have to put up a pic later when they are in. I want to rearrange my basement now SOOO badly!
#45. Edit 3 more wedding pics(03/06/2008, 28/8/2008, 17/3/2009 finished!)Yup, I’ve edited a bunch of wedding pics… more than those 3, actually. I have more to edit though… at least 2 that need major editing, and the rest just need a bit of fine-tuning (color fading, brightening, stuff like that).
#74. Learn to do yoga (finished end 2008) - I actually learned yoga through Wii Fit. I used to have belly dancing in this spot instead of yoga, but swapped it out since I had learning yoga on my next 101 list. Plus, I want to take a dance class with hubby, and I think learning two dances in one 101 is... a lot.
34 down, 67 to go! And apparently 690 days to go! Gotta do one every 10 days... but I'll probably do more... yeah... ;)

You have just overwhelmed me with your list! You are an overachiever!
Go get em!
Good for you! I may need to see your list when I finally get around to doing one for myself! You're a busy lady!
We keep our compost bucket (kind of like this one: http://www.gardenshoponline.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=337 ) under our sink, and if we take it out to the compost bin every few days, the smell isn't bad (no worse than the garbage can, anyways)! Because we just have a backyard composter (and raccoons in the area), we don't put meat or dairy in there.
A tip that might help with the smell is to put a couple of drops of tea tree oil in there to help mask the odour. We do this with our cloth diaper bin, and it works wonders! You can buy tea tree oil at most pharmacies.
Way to go! You ambition inspires me. Definitely make time to read The Five Love Languages. I found it very easy to read and what you learn makes a huge difference in life -- not on just how to love your spouse but on how to love others you're close to.
I keep telling myself that I'll make a 101 list, but I never get around to it! Maybe I need to start a "10" list or something, and throw the 101 list on there, haha.
Wow, Sab, that's a great list but especially with a baby and your work on the farm books and stuff, when do you SLEEP????
Wow - what an update! I really enjoyed completing my wasgij (backwards jigsaw) recently, and might try to get my sweetie to help with the next one; it's a great project to work on with someone else. I'm glad you're trying to fit in some time to read books and do yoga - you are so busy!
