Thankful Thursday

OK, I just HAVE to post! This isn't gonna be a normal Thankful post, mostly because I have to be out the door in a few moments, but it's a thankful post all the same... and sort of a catching up post as well.

I'm ALMOST done my rail! ALMOST! I'm so happy! I spent 7 hours sanding on Monday, 7 hours sanding on Tuesday, and my parents came down to help me stain (and watch the munchkin) for 3-4 hours on Wednesday (at least I think it was 3 hours... I can't remember, those stain fumes got to me). I did my best to block the fumes out of the bedrooms, and to let them out of the house. The house still smells of stain, but now it's a lot more mellow and kinda reminds me of the Christmases of long ago, when dad would be working in the basement behind the hanging plastic-and-sheet walls they concocted, building some magnificent piece of furniture for one (or two) of his unsuspecting siblings... and usually something for his kids as well. There's just something about the smell of wood... freshly cut, or stained... not so much the varnish (that stuff REEKS... I got the latex so it's supposed to be low odour). I'm SO THANKFUL for growing up in a home where my parents would hand make so much. And I'm really thankful that the hard part on this rail is done. Now to do a few touch ups and varnish the thing. The rug is scheduled to come in on April 7th! I'll post pics of the whole thing then (well, once I've done the final bits of baseboard too)!

I'm so thankful for my sweet lil girl! She had her 6month needles today and she's such a trooper. She cried (I'd cry) of course, but she was also SO tired. She was fine after that. She's so cute! I just fed her wheat cereal a little while ago and she loves the stuff. Seriously, it's hilarious watching her lean forward toward the bowl and spoon before I even get the chance to refill it! Hahaha! I love it! I need to video that yet...

I'm thankful for my dear husband who has been helping me in his own ways... by making supper this week! Every day. No joke! We had salmon and rice yesterday (I did the rice, but really, he cooked the salmon). Today we're going to an appreciation dinner from one of the businesses our farm works with, so we get FREE supper... that neither of us has to cook... and it's FREE! WHEW! Yeah, I'm thankful for that! Food is good. It's even better when you don't have to cook it. It's EVEN better when you don't have to pay for it either!!! (wink wink).

Anyway, hubby's bugging me to get off this thing and ready to head out. I'm ready, but munchkin isn't. So, I'm off... and thankful!

And thanks for your comment on my post about the red envelopes. Maybe you could start something there in Canada. :o)

Bless you tonight!
