I forgot to post last week... ah well. Life has been busy and last week was no exception. I only had one day where I was home all day. Every other day I was out... either for the morning or all day long. Which is fine, seeing as hubby is on the field. All week. This week too, it sounds like. Although, I think I'll try to do a little less around town this week and spend a bit more time at home. It is a scorcher.
That said, for the month of August, I figured I'd take a break from the challenges... that is, have 'restful' challenges. The kids will be going back to school next month (for those of you with school aged children, that is), and summer just flies away so fast. So, last week my challenge for myself was to do something hobby related again (I scrapbooked one page in my daughters first year album). This week I challenge myself to go swimming. I still want to finish some projects, so for the whole month of August, my challenge is to finish my firepit. Modify that for yourself in whatever way you will. If you have a large outdoor project to do, work on it... you don't have to finish my firepit (although I'd welcome the help, haha).
I have a lot of outdoor related things to do, as well one major indoor project. What is that, you ask? Repainting a toddler bed! I wish to move my daughter into a 'big girl' bed shortly. I may transition her to a mattress on the floor for starters, but I think it's time. She slept on the couch at my parent's house like a big girl during her nap time, and there were no problems. She didn't even get up until I came to her and 'gave her permission'... or so it seemed. She goes upstairs herself when I say 'nap time' and heads right for her crib. This way, she may go to bed all on her own. Or not. At least it will make potty training a bit easier later on this year. I think I'll attempt that soon. I'm still reluctant for some reason... so for now it is very laid back. She sits on the potty and is rather proud of herself. Last week on Monday she told me "I poop", so I placed her on the potty while getting her bath ready, and she pooped in the potty! (well, sort of. It was a tiny teeny little bitty bit, but it's still something). She's been on the potty 4 times since then, just sitting. On Saturday she sort of pooped again (I say sort of... it's more like wet farts... yuck...). I'm thinking of attempting the 'training in a day' method given to me by a friend and a book I read a while ago, but I'm not ready to do that yet. I think I want to make sure some other things are going to be easier for her first (like a bed she can climb in and out of herself), and give her a bit of time to get used to that before moving on to potty training (too many new things at once may NOT be such a good idea).
So, what are your challenges for the month?

Hey! There you are :))
Glad your busy week worked out :) ... this is a great week to stay inside looks like.
I just had a thought - when we sell our books together at the Nov. Craft sales, you could totally bring your Christmas Organizer - might be a great impulse sale item... :)) (over and above the children's book, not instead...)
Just a thought..

Ooh - one more thing. I notice that your book says "Sabrina Mae" as author, but your Storefront says "Sabrina Kehler" - which is your pen name?
Thanks :)

Potty training is our big project this month. We didn't want to start it with the new baby on the way, since I have heard that it can be a bit challenge when they are also dealing with the baby and can really regress. Last week, I was despairing that we would ever get Pk trained but just lately, it's coming together. She pees on the potty quite a few times a day and is now asking to go and the most exciting part is that we are often having dry diapers when we get her onto the potty. We had trouble getting her on the potty at all so we started giving her one smartie for sitting and 5 for doing anything. She quickly figured out how to "make water come" (she won't call it peeing) and now, we have told her that if she poops, we are immediately getting in the car and going to buy the nicest cupcakes we can find. Will it work? Who knows but I have to be honest and say that two in diapers is not fun and costs too much. It's time for Pk to get herself trained!
Good luck with your daughter and I am glad you found a bit of time to scrapbook! One of my daily goals is to knit two rows! Sometimes it happens and sometimes not.
Get back to blogging, get back to tweeting, and get a new web design!!
I am all about your "restful" challenges this month, haha! I actually had my own "to do before school starts again" list, and it's going better than anticipated. Shampoo carpets? Check! Clean out bathroom cabinets? Check! Now I just have to convince myself to work on the weeds in the backyard, which I can already pretty much promise isn't going to happen until it gets back into the 90s... at least. :-)
