Time for another 101 update. My list is getting larger and larger since I haven't actually been finishing all the things I want to... oops. Ah well, here were the things I wanted to work on in July... as well as the progress (or lack thereof). First, I'll just post the ones I DID manage to do... then the rest... which I hope to accomplish in August (or maybe work on... hmmm)
63. Level out yard - (July24) DONE!
Yippee! We ordered the dirt and hired a guy to do this with his awesome track skidsteer! No more ruts or ponds, yippee! And the firepit area is currently nothing... but it's all leveled off with dirt and a clean slate once again!
66. Grow a garden - I'm chalking this up as done.
After all, the flowers are growing, I just put some mulch in on the 31st, so it's doing well for itself! Now to get my daughter to stop picking the nice flowers... maybe I can teach her to pull weeds instead (hahaha).
95. Go to 3 different local festivals/fairs (2/3) - (July 30) DONE
On the 30th was the local fair. We didn't go to the museum like I hoped to, however. Ah well. Timing was off for us. But we enjoyed the petting zoo and went to the parade. M loved it... Bram was indifferent. Oh, and of course we had to enjoy a good old sausage burger outside the mall.
98. Go to an anime convention - (July 17) DONE
This was a fun one! I've wanted to go since I first heard of the convention, and we were able to go! I'll have to post pics eventually (I'm so behind in blogging). I dressed up as Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (one of Miyasaki's films... it's through Disney) since I couldn't fit into my Zelda costume (and didn't finish making it either). Some people had some fabulous costumes there! Oh, and I learned how to make onigiri and sushi (the temaki and ... the ones with nori on the outside... the rolled ones?). It was great! I hope to go again!
Now for the unfinished items...
9. Visit a museum - Sigh. Again, we missed out. I can not for the life of me figure out why we couldn't go. I think I'll have to force the issue next year. The kids would love it.62. Fix fire pit area - It's been started. I'm hoping to get the rock for it tomorrow so I can finish it up this month. It WILL be finished by Sept 18 since I plan to have a bonfire then.
64. Remove dead trees from yard - It's on the "Honey DO" list. Now to get the 'Honey" to "DO".
71. Learn to play guitar - Didn't happen. Again. Sigh.
100. Get a massage - Again, didn't happen. I don't understand...
And now, for the new things I wish to do in August (along with all the unfinished ones above... crazy, I tell you).
95. Go to 3 different local festivals/fairs (3/3) - planning to go to one in the nearby town (we could bike there if we really wanted to... but probably won't unless we get a bike cart for both kiddos).

You're doing well! I have accepted that there will be some on my list that just won't happen by March 2011 but I hope to have most of them completed, or at least started. Learning to play the guitar is an open-ended goal - mine is the same but for the ukulele, so I intend to mark it as complete after I've been practising for a few months. Why not just practise a few chords every now and then and build up to it slowly?
That's a good idea... thing is, I haven't actually picked up the guitar at all since the one time in March, and prior to that I haven't touched it since before my daughter was born. How sad! Maybe I need to set aside some time each week, a couple of times a week, to practice. That might help. Thanks for the suggestions!
